This year's wine festival poster, "The Grape Harvest," was created by artist Matt Cook.
Matt's formal training in art began when he attended East Carolina University School of Art in Greenville, NC, where his primary focus was graphic design and illustration. Upon finishing college, Matt worked in several advertising and internet firms in Virginia and North Carolina. After five years working in the advertising business, he devoted himself to painting full time.
Matt considers himself a regionalist painter, where color plays a key element in his work. His work is found in numerous private and corporate collections in North Carolina and across the country. He has also been featured in various publications across the South.
"The Grape Harvest" was inspired by the FDR-era government-sponsored WPA (Works Progress Administration) posters of the mid 1930s. It depicts the physical labor that goes into making every bottle of wine.
